Job Title: Tax Accountant

Reports To: Chief Accounting Officer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Accounting

Division: Retail

Salary Range: $85K to $94K per year

Summary:

The Tax Accountant is responsible for managing and preparing tax-related documents and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Prepare and review tax returns for Withholding, Franchise, and Sales taxes for various jurisdictions.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of tax filings, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory forms.
• Work with clients to gather necessary information for tax filings.
• Utilize software to keep up to date on tax laws and changes to ensure clients take advantage of available credits, deductions, and exemption.
• Maintain tracking of filing statues.
• Work with regulatory authorities to resolve tax-related issues or disputes.
• Assist in auditing activities by providing relevant tax-related information.
• Support clients during tax audits by preparing necessary documentation and representing them to tax authorities.
• Communicate with clients to explain tax requirements, provide updates, and answer tax-related questions.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Required Experience/Skills:

• Typically requires 1-3 years of experience in tax accounting or public accounting.
• Experience with tax preparation software is often required.
• Familiarity with federal and state tax laws and regulations.
• Strong knowledge of tax software and spreadsheets
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and ability to work with complex financial data.
